Growing your business with you
The ugly truth.
Its funny, but over the few years I have been amused that once someone posts their website on to the public domain, they automatically assume that everyone can see it straight away. I bet we all wish this were true.
The ugly truth is that once you have spent your hard earned money or blown your company budget on a lovely looking website you will then be thinking about how you market and publicise this great work of art. What do you do now ?
How much is your budget?
There is a myriad of companies out there that will promise the world and try and justify extending your budget by a few more thousand pounds to promote, market and spam the world via social media all about their new venture (your website). all well and great until they land their next big customer then where does that leave you?
I have always felt that if a client wants a website they may want to take the investment a stage further and assume some control over their own destiny. How can this be achieved ?
Content managed websites
Until Content managed websites came into being, for example JOOMLA and WORDPRESS this wasn’t really possible unless the client had skills with HTML or was a DREAMWEAVER expert. This has at least provided the client with the ability to take greater control of their content and their website as a whole.
Content managed websites offer a number of advantages.
- Full control of the content.
- Ability to change the look and feel of the website using templates.
- Scheduled articles to be published where and when you want
- Ease of optimising the site
- Organised structure.
- Ability to hand over to a client after a brief training period
- Ability to cascade the training to other members of the team.
Summary
So when you next think about your next big business idea, give some thought to how you want to grow, you either take full control of your website in working in partnership with your web developer, who will in turn hand over the web site content managing to you or you could just grab a pile of money and throw it out of the window!
I look forward to hearing from you soon !
